Symptoms of Allergies
There are many symptoms of allergies ranging from
mild, moderate or severe. Whatever category you are
grouped in; it is wise to take time and effort to
investigate these symptoms of allergies. Mild allergic
reactions may include a rash, congestion, itching, and
red watery eyes. If your symptoms of allergies are mild,
they can spread to other parts of the body. Symptoms
include breathing difficulties and itching.
Severe cases include Anaphylaxis, which
is a rare and life threatening emergency. This is what takes place when the
body’s response to an allergen happens all of a sudden; affecting the entire
body. This may start out with an itching of the face and/or eyes;
progressing to more serious symptoms of allergies. Severe symptoms include
cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and possibly mental confusion
and/or dizziness. These symptoms of allergies sometimes can be linked to
crustacean and shellfish. A person could develop symptoms of allergies to
only crustaceans and not to shellfish, or both.
The first major sign one should be aware of is shock due to anaphylaxis.
Organs in the body are not receiving the proper amount of blood because of
dangerously low blood pressure. Unfortunately, shock can cause a rather
rapid death. Signs to observe are pale skin, anxiousness, confusion, red,
dry and sweaty skin. Dilation of large blood vessels can occur when a person
goes into shock. One may not think that symptoms of allergies could be so
harsh; but some usually are. Drastic and sudden drops in blood pressure
could lead to cardiac arrest, unconsciousness, and even death.
Not everyone is aware of what to look for. The allergic reaction does depend
upon a particular body part involved; and how severe the reaction was. The
symptoms of allergies can affect many areas or just one particular area. It
really depends upon the individual. People can react to the same allergen in
different ways. Heredity plays a key role in symptoms of allergies as well.
Below are more detailed symptoms of allergies that can happen in the worse
cases of allergic reactions:
- Stomach – Bloody diarrhea
- Eyes – Red and bloodshot, draining,
crusty appearance, inability to open eyes in
the morning
- Head – Facial swelling/ swelling of
eyes
- Lungs – Tightness in chest, shortness
of breath
With severe symptoms of allergies; everyone should be thoroughly informed of
what to look for and how to properly handle. Knowing symptoms of allergies
could possibly save someone’s life one day.
